“CONFINED”
A WISH TREE ON FINAL WISHES & CAPITAL PUNISHMENT
ABOUT THE PROJECT
CONFINED is a commentary on capital punishment and execution practices in Huntsville. Centering the wish-tree form, the project asked students at Sam Houston State University to write a final wish, a brief request, memory, or message, echoing the ritual of the “last meal.” These wishes were gathered into an installation that makes visible care, empathy, and moral tension. Rather than reenactment, the work creates a reflective bridge between campus and the realities of people on death row, asking participants to consider dignity at the end of life.
