Yusuf Bhai is a Balochistan-born artisan specializing in palm-leaf (“peesh”) weaving. From his shop in Karachi’s historic Empress Market, he creates baskets and everyday carriers with strong, breathable plaits that age beautifully. Each piece reflects years of practice, resourceful making, and the living craft traditions that move with people across regions. By collaborating with Yusuf Bhai, we help sustain fair, transparent livelihoods for skilled makers while bringing time-honored techniques into daily use.
TECHNIQUES/MATERIAL
He uses Peesh/Palm leaves as it is grown in abundance in his native village-Balochistan. He uses various kinds of weaves like plain, twil and etc in his baskets.
